Career Planning

A unique feature of ISB is the integration of career development into the curriculum.  Our students are enrolled in the ADAPT Program through the Center for Doctoral and Postdoctoral Career Development.

Training in Writing Grants

As part of the comprehensive exam, students are required to submit a proposal to a PhD supporting program such as the NIH or NSF predoctoral fellowship programs. This requirement provides exposure to real-life competition for grant money and provides training in scientific writing skills.

Ethics Training

Scientific ethics is an important requirement for a career in science and is usually overlooked in most graduate programs. The required course in Scientific Ethics ensures that students are prepared for making informed decisions when questions of ethics arise.
